I had the opportunity to speak live yesterday with
of , so in lieu of the usual free Friday newsletter (and because I’m doing family-reunion stuff for the next several days) I wanted to republish the conversation here for the whole community.This had been on my Substack bucket list for a while now—I admire JVL’s transparency as a thinker, and thought it would be fun to compare notes with someone who sees the world much as I do, but from a different vantage point. Then, as it happens, we’d both recently published pieces on this topic—the feasibility of rebuilding and de-Trumpifying the government after years of destruction—so it all worked out serendipitously.
