For my entire adult life dems have been great on policy, lousy on getting the message out. This was far and away the best messaging I've ever seen from democrats.
The choice of speakers was well thought out, their messages complimenting and building on each other until a 3 dimensional picture began to form. By day 4 I believe the world was ready for vice president Harris. And she knocked it out of the park!
I thought the most dangerous topic might be the middle east, but she navigated Israel/Gaza with command and even grace about as perfectly as it could have been done. The team who put this convention together did a stellar job, and I hope she hires them for the duration... even into her first term because if we need great messaging from now until the election, we *really* need them in her first term for the next 4 years!
What it all comes down to is - Do you want someone in the White House who plans on taking your RIGHTS & FREEDOMS AWAY' or do you want someone who will keep your freedoms and possibly even give you MORE? THAT IS A NO-BRAINER!!!
I know, Right? This election is unlike any before in our lifetimes. In the past, when offered the choice between chicken and beef, either was acceptable.
There's been a lot written about how Clinton blew it in 2016 but the fact is she lost for one reason and one reason only, millions of bigots refused to vote for a woman.
The biggest reason, yes, but also Comey's ill-timed announcements, Russia's hold on a key player in the NY office of the FBI (that may have forced Comey's hand), traditional media's "her emails" and frequent slanted coverage, and failure of Clinton and the DNC to mobilize enough people in key swing states.
And the slogan "It's her time" just didn't resonate the way the campaign hoped for...certainly not against a thuggy misogynist who drew a huge male-voter slice of the electorate. But, fair play to HRC, she opened the door a crack to admit into the room the "normality" of a female candidate for president, and Kamala Harris just kicked that door right off its hinges.
I can't buy the notion that "independent" and "both-haters" (ugh!), once committing to Harris-Walz, would flip back. In fact, I suspect that her growing lead in the polls is also coming from "soft" Dem voters who had soured on the Biden candidacy, but now have gone all in with Kamala.
Not to be too overconfident - and especially in light of your caveats - but barring any "black swan event(s), this election is the Dems to lose.
OK, everyone, take Michelle's advice and start doing something that might help. Head to Votefwd.org and commence writing letters to key voters. You need a home printer and five stamps to mail your letters. I'm up to 25 letters myself.
For folks who have the time to go visit a swing state, a friend of mine recommended this org that helps hook people up to do a week at a time of local campaigning: https://seedthevote.org/
Coach Collins, Swim Coach for the Boys High School Team, RHHS addressed the Girls Team- Make Your Last Laps The Hardest! ie, the more effort you put into the end the stronger and better out come you will reap. We all have to do whatever we can until the polls close! I am looking forward to Reverand Al Sharptons, Joy In The Morning! The evening of Election Day 2016, Ted Nash and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, performed his "Presidential Suite." at a Mid-Town NYC club which has since closed. During the evening, the results of the election were monitored, it started as a gloriously uplifting and hopeful evening. As the results of the election became clear a horrible pit set into all of us in the club. I never want to feel that again. The next four years I would post, Master of Disaster, each day is worst than the next. (My Supervisor at the time was a trumpet- which added to the horror) We have a lot of work to do.
In an archery competition, we have a saying: "Last end. Best end." (ends are rounds of arrows). It means even when you're tired you have to reset and focus your efforts on executing as you've been practicing to do.
Yes, there is no question but that many underestimated what we faced in 2016. That led, among other things, to thinking we had the luxury to be Dems in disarray (Lookin’ at you, Jill Stein voters). Overall, the messages offered this time are far better, as Brian sets out so well. There is one, however, that has been bothering me since he said it, and finally felt I needed to note it. It’s from Obama, as Brian quotes here: “After all, if a parent or grandparent occasionally says something that makes us cringe, we don’t automatically assume they’re bad people. We recognize that the world is moving fast, that they need time and maybe a little encouragement to catch up.” I understand who Obama is trying to reach here, but he has done it in the wrong way. There is far too much dismissal of what we who are older have to offer, as if what we have learned over a lifetime is now simply old news, not worth hearing. Young people say a lot of cringeworthy things too. Elders do sometimes know better. Quite often in fact. Just sayin’.
I don't trust liberals not to persecute and attack the freedoms of anyone they disagree with. They do it constantly.
How is giving liberals more power not a license for more Persecution of dissent? Wrongthink is what liberals live to prosecute. It is a party of children - lord of the flies type children - finally finding a theme that isn't high school clique level social engineering.
Obama made it clear: stop demanding evryone around you is a mirror image of your beliefs. Your intolerance is losing elections dipshits. Have grace. Be forgiving. Be actually tolerant of difference instead of bumpersticker tolerant showcasing your "open mindedness"
So in a way it was nice after about 10.years to see the democrats let the adults lead the discussion. Whether they can actually grow up and stop whining the world isn't just so goes against over a decade of empirical proof liberals are total jerk offs who want to police the thoughts of the nation. But if liberals can grow up, that would help all around because without liberal idiocy and insufferable self righteousness, no character like Trump could ever be elected again.

Barack Obama was so-so on policy, but great on getting the message out - earned him two terms of office.
Joe Biden was great on policy, but shite on getting the message out - earned him one term of office.
Kamala Harris looks good on policy, but sensational on getting the message out - should earn her two terms of office.

Today we're offered chicken or a sh!t sandwich.
This is not rocket science, folks. Tell a friend.
Kinzinger's script was perfect.

Thank you Hillary I will write that on my wall calendar!
