What is "AI safety," and why leave it so vague? The opposition to AI data centers is overwhelming, and a natural fit for the Democratic party, no? It's anti-corporate and anti-tech bro, and forcing Republicans to defend new data centers would put them in a terrible bind, especially in red states.
So, why not "a moratorium on AI data centers and strong regulation to ensure AI does not destroy jobs or the planet?"

I'd agree with this broadly, but who specifically are we talking about as fringe? I think the left has a point that a lot of the pearl-clutching of late blurs the same line either obtusely or deliberately to include as "fringe" basically any prominent Israel critic.
Just a quibble: One of the tragic things about the left obsession with turnout over persuasion is that the “deliberately provocative naming” could theoretically serve as a hook for a long term persuasion campaign.
Setting temporary tactical considerations aside, we shouldn’t lose sight of this.
Maybe two additions to a unification platform for 2028??
1. Repeal the Bush-Trump tax cuts that rob the federal government of income needed to do its job properly and responsibly. (Tie this to GOP running up the national 'credit card' debt that justifies cutting needed programs.)
2. Court reform including an ethics code for the Supreme Court, enforceable by Congress. Also include term limits--(generous, perhaps 20 years but no more lifetime guarantees for pet justices.
Third Way is a wolf in sheep's clothing. It's tied to the banking industry, which favors deregulation and lower taxes and opposes Medicare for All. Third Way suppresses voter groups that support third-party candidates. While Third Way takes socially liberal positions, that is a smokescreen hiding its neoliberal, right-wing fiscal policies. I find it concerning that Third Way is planning a campaign against Social Democrats rather than touting its own policies. Medicare for All is not a left-wing idea. Every other developed country maintains healthcare systems that work for all their citizens, not just the well-connected. Americans are the only ones who can go bankrupt just because they get a serious illness, even when covered by health insurance. I've lived in Japan, France, and the UK -- getting health care is just not the stressor that it is in the US.

This is reprehensible and one more reason money in politics is a cancer. DSA isn’t a threat to democracy or the American people (or all people really) or the planet, but the GOP is.
Unlike the right that is basically a cult at this point and will vote as monolith (republicans always ‘come home’) Dems and Independents need to have different candidates based on their local, county, state needs and wants. I am no fan of centrists but I understand that in many places that’s what’s needed to win. Same goes for liberals, progressives, and DSA. Fair primaries without establishment influence lets the voters decide.
Running any of the out of the party will end badly for everyone.
