Realistically, the choice is going to be between two grandpas. What if the D’s sell it as, ‘Who would you rather have running the country, your corny grandpa who might be a little behind the times, or your racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic grandpa who’s facing 91 felonies and needs to get elected so he doesn’t go to prison?’
Brian - Just a reminder that bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform did pass the senate in 2013 with 67 votes. The legislation was written by "The Gang of Eight;" 4 Republicans and 4 Democrats. One of the Republicans in the 'Gang' was Sen. Marco Rubio who voted for the legislation, then walked back his support, and encouraged (begged?) the House not to take it up. It never made it to the floor.
Susan, re: "wokeness," my favorite use of the concept has to do with tampons. A measure was introduced in the Idaho legislature to provide free feminine hygiene products in the schools but:
“Why are our schools obsessed with the private parts of our children?” Scott said.
Another Republican legislator called the language in the bill — “period poverty” and “menstrual equity” — “woke terms.”
Thanks for answering my question Brian! As a follow up, we know Dems will raise a shit ton of money from small donors (and large). What if they built a large media operation they could build in less than a year to reach their voters instead of just pouring billions into ineffective tv ads? How long did it take to build Crooked Media? Or your own newsletter experience should show it's possible to build these media in short order. Would help wouldn't it?
“ Always have a bunch of puns in the oven. It’s always pun and games until my wife outpuns me. I get it from my dad, like father like pun. Are we pun here?”
Re "woke." I'm personally amused by the juxtaposition of those of us who meditate which is in principle about developing "awareness" or being "awakened." I see R rejection of "woke" as the diabolical impulse it is.

Love this.

Oh, this was lots of fun! I mean, "lots of pun"! Thank you everyone for interesting questions and thanks Brian for interesting answers!
Probable future New York Times story?

Needless to say, it didn't pass.
This was pun!

These aren’t puns. They are plays on words.
