I will crawl on broken glass to vote for Biden - with intense grumpiness that there is no other rational choice.

Rather than revulsion, it's a broad lack of enthusiasm that is the primary threat to Biden's reelection.

People need to read more Simon Rosenberg and less Gabriel DeBenedetti. Americans actually do care about how Biden's policies have improved their lives, whether it's cheap insulin, student loan forgiveness, higher wages, or massive government investment in their own communities — but it can get drowned out by the constant negativity. If Republicans had these kinds of accomplishments they would be unbeatable. Why don't we focus on the wins for a while and see how that goes?

I’m just curious, Brian: What’s your valence on NYM?

One doesn’t have to go down Elizabeth’s particular rabbit hole in order to be skeptical of the general navel-gazing aspect of NYM. I don’t know if what they do rises to the level of access journalism, but it certainly smacks of the myopia for which movement liberalism is infamous.

And I say that as someone who’s predisposed to believe their narrative! But it’s precisely that predisposition which makes me question the certitude with which it’s presented.

As you’ve said before, your mission here is to question conventional media liberalism. This is a prime example. I believe it’s possible to be both critical of the Biden campaign AND media narratives about it.

I read the New York article. One thing that concerned me is the campaigns assumption that pouring a billion dollars in advertising into the ether is going to convince skeptical or indifferent voters, after three years of Biden taking a daily beating. Political ads might test well but do people get persuaded by ads anymore? Maybe if they are investing heavily in digital because no one under 60 watches TV.

The other worrying item is that the campaign wants to defang the attacks on his age with the notion that his age means experience and all his experience in government is an asset. But Americans basically hate political insiders and want reform and change. Nice try! They also seem to think Dobbs is going to be a magic elixir. Maybe.

It feels like weak tea to me. I don't know the answer but agree it might be too late and the campaign was too slow to act. Where's the fucking urgency!

Brian: The "new profile" that you are referring to was created by election polls infected by Russian cyber attacks and their effort - once again - to put Trump into the WH. WAKE UP. The Russians ensured Trump's win in 2016 and they have had 8 years to perfect their hacking of our election processes and our polls. Polls sway voters. Russians have openly admitted to 2016 election interference and have said it will continue. Take them at their word. Trump was compromised by the Russians long, long before they assisted his election win. In 2008, Trump Jr. commented at a conference that "the largest percent of the Trump Empire money comes from Russia." It is all tied together. Russians use flattery, money, and prostitution to lure and catch western men in their spy traps. Trump has followed directions from Putin who is hell-bent on the destruction of our country. Mass-mind manipulation and coercive control techniques (brainwashing) started in totalitiarian countries. It is defined as telling lies over and over until their are perceived as the truth. Once converted, the subject has no independent reasoning. If hatred is included in the lies, then a chemical in the brain enacts violence. It was used world wide, but Germany is the perfect example. An entire country was brainwashed into believing in Hitler's lies and he changed a peaceful nation into mass murderers - about 6 to7 million humans were tortured and killed. Putin spent his spy years in Germany and speaks German well. Put the pieces of the puzzle together. Lo and behold, we see the exact same brainwashing techniques used in the United States. Donald Trump uses these methodologies daily to influence his followers. Read From Democracy to Democrazy (by Graham) to find the facts.

You're saying Russia has hacked our election process and polls? Where is the evidence for that? Russia is certainly a propaganda threat and a cyber threat but they haven't owned our polling or the election machines. And ofc Trump is in Putins pocket. You're right to be concerned but don't scare people into thinking their votes don't matter.

The government can’t improve anything except by making it easy for non government funded businesses to flourish. They still haven’t figured it out I guess. Not surprising for someone who has been milking the taxpayer for 40 plus years and has never made a nickel without taxpayer funds.

Add to that the foolish idea that we can go green and still have all the dirty manufacturing done elsewhere. We lose the jobs, we lose the tax base and income from those jobs, we lose the security of those goods being made here. We get a far dirtier world because we actually have EPA rules. Our govt should be performing the real cost/ benefit studies on moving our manufacturing and job and tax base elsewhere. Biden and his clown crew are hopelessly incompetent to evaluate the real cost of their economic policies. The only people” better off” live on the taxpayers dime either directly or indirectly. That is unsustainable!

Dude. Correct grammar (of course, who cares?). Not: "It’s better insofar as he has actually ran the experiment he wanted to run." It's this: It’s better insofar as he has actually run the experiment he wanted to run. "Has ran" is an incorrect present perfect form, because the past participle of the verb to run is run, not ran. Whatevs.

The author leaves out many key reasons for Biden's unpopularity: the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, rising rates of violent crime, the wholesale surrender to authoritarian woke insanity, the corrupt actions of his son (and Biden's increasingly obvious involvement therein), the likelihood of Kamala Harris becoming President during a second Biden term, and of course the ceaseless drumbeat of price inflation. This wilful blindness to what actually matters to the voting public has inarguably led to the resurgence if Trump.

Dear Brian: See my previous message. Biden and his campaign and the state of our economy are all wrapped up with a big RED bow and Russian cyber attacks and hacking. I am speaking from personal experience of living and working in Russia and Central Asia for about 20 years, and prior to that I sent 12 years with Science Applications International Corporation, of which 8 years was as the data base manager for the largest Russian-language technical, military, and intelligence library in the United States. I was required to not just learn Russian, but correct technical Russian for the data base. I fully understand how Russia operates and my many years in dictator-led countries is the entire reason that I am jumping up and down and screaming at all Americans. We are under-educated about the rest of the world and especially Russia and Putin. Putin was and still is a Cold War-era spy first and hates the United States because he blames us for the downfall of the Soviet Union. He is attempting to destroy our democracy from within - and guess what - he is succeeding!!! Trump had filed 4 bankruptcies and needed cash to support his lavish lifestyle. The Russians provided him with multi-millions in cash - his tax records and real estate deals prove this. He is also a sucker for beautiful women - and Russian Prostitutes - all working for Putin - are stunning. I know this because I have seen them. Americans need to start dealing with reality about Trump and his role in the destruction of our country. He is NOT saving America, but doing and saying anything possible to please Putin.
