No news roundup this week—I probably need to rethink its utility for as long as the news environment is so chaotic. On the one hand, there’s too much to summarize, and on the other hand, I suspect people’s questions will mostly touch on a handful of major themes. (Trump, Musk, legitimation crisis, falling dominoes, confirmations, opposition, lawsuits, etc).
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that all of this has cast a pall over much of the city of Washington, where the impact on decent people’s lives has been immediate and severe. I’m curious to hear from those of you who don’t live here about whether and how it’s changed the atmosphere in your home towns. Has it disrupted local life? Is it business as usual? Has the water cooler/coffee shop/local pub chatter changed a lot…
