Donald Trump’s fascist threat has escaped containment as a political issue. Few can say they weren’t warned now.
Between John Kelly, Mark Milley, Mark Esper, and others, it may be easier at this point to keep track of the senior Trump officials who don’t think he’s a fascist.
Now all Democrats need is for this news cycle to persist unchanged for another 12 days.
One thing they could do to help in that regard (though don’t hold your breath) is convene an emergency Senate Armed Services Committee hearing with Kelly, Milley, Esper, and Jim Mattis to air their concerns and contemplate what a fascist president would do to military readiness, chain of command, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and so on…
Responding to Kelly’s allegation that Trump had a lot of nice things to say about Hitler, the world’s dumbest influential Trump supporters have responded by absolving Trump and/or suggesting Trump may have not been fully aware of the bad things Hitler did.
If all this is stressing you out, but you can’t travel or don’t feel extroverted enough to knock on doors or make calls, consider joining Keyboards for Kamala, which is a new initiative meant to help people engage on social media in a persuasive and helpful way. (I have no affiliation with Keyboards for Kamala, and posting isn’t a substitute for traditional voter outreach, but since not everyone can work volunteer shifts…)
