Love this and especially being introduced to this fitness person, Kelly Matthews! I would love a post about online fitness experts. I want a bootcamp person who emphasizes good form if you have any recommendations.
Oooof. That's a tough one. They're not exactly antitheses, but bootcamp-style high-intensity workout trainers and evangelists are almost never strict about form, and form-conscious trainers tend to be HIIT skeptics. I'm happy to recommend a couple folks who program high-intensity stuff—and who demonstrate with good form—but the key is to learn proper form first, then carry it over into more challenging workouts.
One thing you can do is scroll way back in Kelly Matthews's Instagram timeline. I happened upon her page during pandemic because she was posting home-based kettlebell workouts that, much closer to bootcamp-style workouts. Most of the movements in those workouts are replicable with dumbbells if you don't own kettlebells.
Interesting, I didn't know about this difference of opinion. I do what I call bootcamp with one local trainer (lunges, squats, jumping, hand weights, balance stuff, a little cardio, etc), but she doesn't have enough classes. She's fantastic about form, so I already know that part. I don't know how to use gym equipment, so I just binged a bunch of Kelly Matthews stuff and she did have some workouts with free weights that are perfect. I go to OneLife (fort Totten) and need to take more strength etc classes there, but I wish they were better about form! (I also do a DCDPR class that is sooooo hard and is pretty good about form.) I am wondering about dropping OneLife hence my curiosity about online people, but I just need to make myself go. Enough said! And thanks!!
In this moment let's remember that for decades gun manufacturers have understood that the shrinking valor of working class men could be used to their advantage by substituting "protector" for "breadwinner." The redefinition of working class masculinity did not happen in a vacuum.
There's also our habit of letting the working class fight our wars, absorbing the moral hazard and coming home brutalized and disillusioned. Men who were told their military service was a pathway to valor now find their only usefulness is being thugs for the state.
I know this this alpha male bs is a serious issue and this is a fine description of it, but I could not help laugh at the screen shot of Hegseth working out with recruits being labeled "breaking news."
I loved every word. It was also very humbling, in that I found myself not above wanting to know more about the cuckolding (a word perfected by Steve Carroll) of Stephen Miller, gratuitous or not.
More importantly, yes and only yes to Pretti’s way of being in the world.

All that being said, I’m wondering how active Grindr is around the hotels ICE is staying at in their targeted cities. We know it’s pretty active at Right-wing gatherings. The closet can also skew men’s obsessions with masculinity.
The one bright spot: Hegseth’s shitty kettle ball technique means a torn rotator cuff is in his not too distant future.
I've had rotator cuff surgery. I await Hegseth's pain and discomfort with relish!!
Me too! Here’s hoping the interactions between his pain meds and the ‘roids he’s taking— allegedly!— do a number on his kidneys.
Brian, you have written a eulogy that's especially needed and heart felt. 💔💞💔💞

This guy is CONSTANTLY programming fresh high-intensity workouts, too. https://www.instagram.com/meltprogramming/?hl=en

The Chud and Foil section gave me The LOLs. *applauding*
Lobotomy would be a cure
Alex Pretti is my idea of what constitutes a real man.

Now, if it were Trump ....

There were rumors she was schtuping Elon Musk.

Omg!! That is a juicy tidbit ;)
Superb, thanks. The moral vacuity and tyranny of the thugs has wafted into Gestapo therapy.
